Arsenal SGL21 AK47 Rifles For $499
 

I just received my two Plum and Black Arsenal SGL21s, these are really gorgeous high quality AKs. Ive heard from several retailers that these prices are temporary, they were selling for 900-1k two weeks ago. pics later.

Have you shot it yet? Heard good things abou them. I was told you HAVE to use SAIGA mags. That website says it will accept any double stack AK mag.

Yes, these Arsenals are probably the nicest AKs made. All brand new parts, made in Russia by Izmash(Kalashnikov approved!), with all military parts(except perhaps the receiver?). It's an excellent deal.

However, while they may have listed for $1K a couple weeks ago, I don't think they were selling many for $1K. At this price, it doesn't really make sense to buy a Saiga and convert it, just buy the SGL21!

Silverjeep, these take any AK mags. Saiga specific mags will probably work, too, but may need to have the rear locking tab filed down. These should be the most accurate AKs available(at least in 7.62x39).

These SGL21s are the best deal in AKs atm. The SGL21s have the dimples in the receiver at the mag well like they are supposed to, unlike many of the Saigas.

These are not the same as the more expensive model-- the SLR is bulgarian make. These are converted Russian SAIGA rifles. Not that SAIGAs are bad. Just sayin..

Too bad they don't have a 5.56 model on there.

My Saiga (unconverted) is easily the most accurate x39 Kalashnikov I own, including two Bulgarian Arsenals. So, a nicely converted Saiga would only be another plus, in my book.

Tossing between a SGL21 and the Bulgarian AK-74 SLR106-31; any thoughts?

I think I like the 5.56 better... more availability, flatter trajectory, etc., but that $499 price is NICE.

Why not 5.45?

Probably the cheapest centerfire cartridge available and has similar ballistics to 5.56

The SLR's sidefolding stock is amazing... I think it's one of the best AK variants available. Keeping with 5.56 also makes ammo availability a nonissue in troubled times.

If the SGL was available in 5.56, I'd get one of each...

The last AK (a beautiful Egyptian MAADI) I bought was $200, and I thought I paid too much back then! WTH is going on with gun prices lately? Is this getting ridiculous, or what? Don't even get me started on ammo prices! :biggrin:
